Title I Funding Notice: No Child Left Behind Programs

With the passing of the ESEA Waiver in 2012, low performing Ohio schools are no longer required to spend a portion of their Title I funding for "No Child Left Behind" or Supplemental Education Services (SES) Tutoring provided by outside providers like Home Tutoring Solutions.

Most Ohio schools have selected to spend their Title I funds previously used for SES tutoring on internal intervention programs for math and reading.  Check with your school principal to see how your school is helping students that need extra help in their core subjects like math and reading.

Free Tutoring Programs and Options

In some circumstances, schools will use a portion of discretionary Supplemental Education Services (SES), Funded Tutoring or Title I funds to hire an outside provider for students needing extra help. This usually requires parents talking to teachers and the school principal about options available. If the school agrees, Home Tutoring Solutions will work directly with any school district in northeast Ohio to provide services for your child.

Some online schools like Ohio Virtual Academy offer free tutoring to their students who have been identified by the student's teacher as needing extra one-on-one help.

Wilson Method for Reading

The Wilson Method for Reading provides a highly structured remedial program for students in second grade through adulthood who have learning disabilities and challenges such as dyslexia. Our certified tutors deliver a language foundation to even the most challenged readers who have been unable to learn with other teaching strategies or who may require multisensory language instruction.

Jon Peterson Special Needs and Autism Scholarship Programs

Home Tutoring Solutions is an approved provider for both the Jon Peterson Special Needs and Autism Scholarship programs. The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who are eligible to attend kindergarten through 12th grade and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their district of residence. Scholarship funding is based on the disability identified.

The Autism Scholarship Program (ASP) gives parents of children with autism who qualify for a scholarship, the choice to send the child to a special education program other than the one operated by their school district. Any student identified by his or her district as a child with autism and for whom the district has created an individualized education plan (IEP), qualifies for the Autism Scholarship program.

Generous funding is provided to help nonpublic students with IEPs or those identified with autism. Call for details.

Online Schools

We provide one-on-one, in-person services to students of online schools to help them maximize their learning experience. The online school provided curriculum for kindergarten through twelfth-grade is available at home, on the road, or wherever an Internet connection is available. While attendance, teacher interaction, and daily lessons are conducted online, additional lessons use physical materials and offline tools. We are able to support students in these online schools either at their home or at a nearby library.  Contact Home Tutoring Solutions for additional information.

Enrichment

We offer enrichment tutoring for students who need extra challenge, or those who want to study subjects in more depth than the required curriculum.  Enrichment is available for all of the same subjects as for tutoring.
